for practice boxes see if you can find any old harmony - stella - kay etc at garage sales, junk stores, auctions etc. their "bindings" are only paint and will b=give good practice. they can be had for $5-$10 and will also give you practice steaming out the necks and resetting them. you can learn some repair techniques at the same time.
